Update Post

Since 2017, I've managed to produce a decent amount of art, but not as much as I would have hoped to. I have managed to update my pages at least with work that I have done for 2017-2021 (recent). With that being said, for now I will give a good update as to whats been going on the past while and also what I hope to accomplish as well as some newer photos in this post. (This is a long post so be prepared)

2017 Year in a Nutshell

During the year 2017 I had just become a full-time student at Georgia Military College and wanted to take my work into a different realm. I joined a theater group there, and many of the photos you will see here are from there. I took photos during each of the productions and did many of the posters that were each one with the exception of many a few (there was a poster with a red backdrop for the play It's a Wonderful Life that someone else made). This to the left, is the cover art for the album currently still on Facebook.

I would say this was quite an eventful year, and probably close to the last time I was on Facebook actively until maybe around 2018.

This album is probably one of my favorites, given that I am a sucker for black and white photos with bright lights. I love color, but black and white has a certain feel to it that just makes it interesting (the theme was black and white for this).

This is in the same year I did the previous photo, but a number of months prior. This was for the production Charlotte's Web. A lot more colorful and many of the photos were very bright compared to the next production.

This was before I actually had begun working at the college and was just volunteering. As well as being a part of Art club. which was also a good way for me to work on sketches and various other projects after having moved into a small apartment nearby.

This was a turning point for me because it had been quite some time since I had actually been in some form of theater since 2011. So Things were very different. In theater in 2011, I was in a much much smaller space compared to an actual stage with professional lighting etc.

2018 Moving on

A year later, for most that know me, know I went through quite an awful depression later in the year. I won't delve too deep into that, given that I view this blog site as a place to put my artwork which generally tends to speak for itself. But I will say it was not a good era in my life, as well as the next two after, 2019-2020. I believe 2020 wasn't a good year for many as well.

During 2018, I still created a number of pieces in which were different to the prior year.

One such piece was this one, to the right. An updated piece of another drawing I did in High School. My inspiration for this clearly came from World of Warcraft in the colorization of it, along with the theme. Despite the fact that the colors in the original one are not the same. This one contains more blues and browns and greys were as the previous had mostly blues and greens. I do feel that eventually I would like to update the horns and the photo of the girl in the tree. As well as the body of the dragon, since it is far less detailed as I intended. But it does show progression. So there is that.

2019 An End of an Era

At the end of 2019, I moved from the old apartment I was regrettably in for longer then I intended, and moved on to a new place. Towards the end, I had attended Georgia College and State University for a semester, which I had done a few pieces in a Drawing I class. (There weren't any art classes at GMC). I've also posted these here as well. At least one is here, I have more in a sketchbook I plan on also showing later.

(just wanted to point out this first one was not at Georgia College I did, but the same year of 2019. Towards the end of GMC). While I enjoy using traditional art, I had begun to use the program that many are familiar with if you've been on Instagram or TikTok, called Procreate for the iPad. I downloaded the app in 2018 (used it for the dragon drawing) and used it to try my hand at creating a form of landscape. I am not too skilled at perspective but I managed. This digital piece was inspired by one I saw with mushrooms and an alien landscape. So I decided that was easiest for me to do and did that. It has it's own certain amount of charm to it and I appreciate the colorization of this one.

Even though, again, it does have the appearance of a beginner almost in the program. Though I will say Procreate with its creative use of per-made brushes is able to help with that. At least for myself it did. I used this program up until I got my current iPad Air 4. the only reason for that is due to the fact that my apple pencil needs to be replaced. (something happened to the pressure points of the stylus)

The photo to the right, is one that I had created in Drawing I and was of a still life. In which the instructor placed random objects people brought from home in the center of the room on a black cloth and we were to draw them. The one thing about this that gives me a chuckle, is that it is one of the few drawings I've done in charcoal (R.I.P to the charcoal and pencil I used. And also my hand covered in it) and also one of the few that has the appearance of being more professional then previous projects. The lighting certainly helped as well as it being on an easel. which I had hardly used before.

This was also done with some guidance and a smudge stick, which I learned how to somewhat properly use and create sort of invisible lines with. Fun Fact: If you notice a blue tinge, I was going to make the background a pastel blue and green. Similar to the scene in Scooby-Doo Where Are You? in the episode Hassle in Castle where the camera pans over to an area with a skull sitting on top of a clothed table (similar to the still life). The idea was to give it a similar look but unfortunately didn't turn out that way since my skills in using water colored pencils didn't turn out well.

Pictured on the left side is a drawing I did as a sort of final piece, of Lilith. A character that I found interesting from Jewish Lore. I also did this at the time, since Activision Blizzard released Diablo 4 at the time FOR PC (a big sigh of relief of that for many apparently. So had to joke) a version of Lilith which I found amazing, visually as well as the cinematic for her. With that being said, we had to create a grid to put the person in, and compare it to a stock photo or photo of what we had to copy so to say. A long process but worth it in the end. I will say that I never could get the nose right along with the eyes, but that was how it turned out.

The Year 2020 - Beginning of the Pandemic
Oh the dreaded year of 2020, the one everyone jokes or memes about on the internet as being the worst year. While it was awful, with the pandemic that is still currently ongoing, I must say it was the year I had done the least amount of work in. There are a few sketches here and there that I did but none in comparison to the previous. I won't say too much about these, except the first was supposed to give of a Van Gogh vibe but ended up looking more grey and different in person. It was made in the program illustrator and was my first time really understanding the software, in a Graphic Design class I was in, per-pandemic. The original description of the assignment was to have a photograph or create one in which you could sort of draw over it and have it be a series

dots. This image is perfect representation of how as a student, I can sometimes do the sort of opposite (if allowed, I did ask at least) of what is wanted but somehow stay in the realm of what was asked in the assignment. What I wanted was for the image to appear as if it was in a comic of some kind rather then appear like a grainy early 2000's camera phone. So I created different layers and just went along with it. having different shapes and layers I can say this was also a long process. This was also traced from a photo I photo-shopped of myself with the background of a castle that I believe resides in England. (The inside of the castle is in ruin but the outside was very well preserved). The inspiration came from early doodles I drew in math class when I was in High School of a gothic tower with a moon behind it and stars. I suppose that was were I would rather be then in that class apparently. (I am not a math person as one could tell).

As what concludes the year of 2020 and onto this one, 2021. I will say I have made some progression and am starting to regain my creative side and be the goth-artist that I wanted to be in high school since I started this blog. This month of July 2021, I applied to SCAD (Savannah School of Art and Design) in hopes I can learn more skills and become a more evolved person so to say.

I hope to be able to create more in the future and leave having created something for the world to look at and question and enjoy.
