About

I first made this site in 2012 as a way of presenting my work over time, and also to just post random stuff on games and things I find interesting.

My Work: Medium
I've been asked a few times what my medium is, and mostly what I do is digital, since that is my major, but I do change it up a bit by doing some acrylic on canvas and sketches, marker, and ink drawings.

Aside from painting, I've also done photography as well for about ten years up to this point. I'm very much an amateur, and I plan on learning more as time goes on.

 FAQ and Answers to them
I get  a number of questions from family and those who know me on a number of different topics regarding my art/major and I just wanted to give an updated answer to those here. For reference.

Why major in Art?
I could write a novel on why I chose to major in Art instead of other subjects, but I will give a shorter version. Since I could remember, and had the use of my fingers, I would draw, paint do whatever I could. Even if it was on my mother's nice antique chair in the living room, I would scribble on something. My father is a professional freelance artist, and I assume that is where the need to draw came from. Any other inspiration possibly came from watch Blue's Clues on VHS watching Steve draw onto a notepad.

So the main answer to that, aside from it's been in my life since I was an infant, its just a skill that I've always been connected to and felt the need to do as a career along with computers.

What was your earliest inspiration?
Aside from seeing my father paint, and watching Blue's Clues. I think the earliest inspiration had to have been from seeing whatever book I found in my father's bookshelf or laying about on the table. And the first one I picked up with my tiny hands was one that contained the works of the great Salvador Dali. An artist I still admire to this day alongside a number of others.

You love computers, why not major in programming or become a freelance Graphic Designer?
While I do love computers and technology, I don't have the patience for programming. In a different world, possibly. And I wouldn't turn it down if it was something I had to do to advance in my career. As for Graphic Design, I prefer the idea of working for a company. I have done some freelance work before but it's not my type of work. I prefer the idea of doing a long lasting project.

Your family is very musical, do you have that as a talent too?
When I was 8-9 years of age, my mother had me attempt to play the piano, and as a result, I only know what a treble clef is along with a resting symbol, a single beat note and a half note. But other than that, my knowledge of reading sheet music is very limited if any. And aside from me listening to endless amounts of Marilyn Manson and Korn, I don't really have the talent to sing ether.

Why the goth style?
This isn't an art question, sort of, but I felt the need to answer this. At 15, I began to tire of the average way of dressing and felt more compelled to join the dark side. They also bribed me with cookies and fluffy cats. How could I say no?

Inspiration of the theme of this website
From 2007-2008 up to 2011, when I used to play on a website called Stardoll.com, there were many blog sites and websites dedicated to it with different layouts and very creative widgets along with it. I wanted to keep a bit of that same layout while also adding bright colors against a black background with gothic text and my own artwork as the wallpaper. Basically, I very much enjoy that early 2000s look and feel to it. Just like I also enjoy 90’s art (pixel art). I may do an update soon and add more of a 90’s flair as well. I also would recommend zooming out a bit on the website, given it tends to be more zoomed in. Unless you’re looking at it on a bigger screen.

Who are your current inspirations?
I could give an entire list, but here are a few. My biggest has always been Marilyn Manson (I am aware of his controversies, I try not to pay attention to someone's personal life when it comes to art unless its Adolf Hitler or someone terrible/unforgivable. I also like to apply that to this blog as well. To me, this is a safe place to just enjoy art without politics and ridiculousness. There has been enough stuff happening in this world the past year). Aside from my love of his music, I also very much enjoy his paintings as well and the covers he does for his albums. They are all very well composed and bring me joy to look at and listen to.

Others being Salvador Dali, Andy Warhol, David Bowie, Mary Doodles on YouTube, and any art that Blizzard churns out.

Do you recognize what your father has painted for a living?
While no one has asked me this, I would like to point out that yes I am aware my father has painted paintings of the old south and ones of the confederacy. He is from a different time, in the 30's (yes my dad is older) and I suppose just never really paid attention to the subject matter then. I'm not a fan of a number of them in that way, and as I've gotten older, I prefer to not think about them....so to say. I support black lives matter and I have entirely different views.

What is your plan for the future/career? Aside from Art School?
As I mentioned in my recent post about the past few years, I hope to see myself evolve into a cultured, sensible and well versed person. I would like to expand my work into something more then what it currently is and pick myself up and move forward. The video game industry has been an interest and fascination of mine for quite some time now and I have dedicated a lot of time to that. So it is something I hope to pursue. I like the idea of being a part of a team of creators who put something out into the world and get a reaction from it, and I do hope to one day create my own video game and release it into the world.

I may add more questions and answers in the future but for now this is it. I hopefully will be posting more soon and if I get accepted into SCAD I will try to create a sort of blog post as to how its going and my journey through it as well as new creations.
